You matter. Help is here.

Wondering what happens when you reach out?

It's okay to feel unsure about calling. The 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline connects people experiencing emotional distress or suicidal crisis with trained crisis counselors. You can call, text, or chat—even if you aren't sure what to say.

Videos open on the official SAMHSA and 988 Lifeline websites. If someone is in immediate physical danger, call 911. The Caring Shelf is not a 24-hour crisis response service.

More than a thrift store

Every item can help carry hope forward.

Founded in memory of Mason, The Caring Shelf helps turn donated goods into practical support for teens and families in crisis. We believe everyone deserves dignity, compassion, and a chance at a better tomorrow.

Love like Mason. Help where you can.

Neighbors helping neighbors

Your generosity is already making a difference.

Every person who comes through our doors has a story. Alongside our mission to support teens in crisis, The Caring Shelf has been able to respond to urgent needs right here in the River Oaks community.

Helping families begin againWe provided clothing, toys, two high chairs, and a new crib to a mother who fled abuse with four young children.
Restoring confidence and dignityWe have helped people facing homelessness find clean clothing and shoes, including parents preparing for job interviews.
Meeting practical needsFrom a bassinet for a new father to clothing for someone attending his father's funeral, small acts of care can mean everything.

These examples describe assistance already provided. Identifying details are intentionally omitted to protect privacy.
